Storm Kristine leaves 85 dead, dozens missing

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported significant casualties and widespread damage from Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, as of 8 pm. Saturday.  

According to the NDRRMC, the tropical cyclone left 85 people dead, with 70 others injured, and 41 still missing. These figures are still being validated.

Evacuations were conducted preemptively, with 24,988 individuals across Regions 1, 2, 3, MIMAROPA, Region 8, Region 9, and CARAGA seeking safety in evacuation centers.

The tropical cyclone affected more than 1.2 million families across the country. 

Flooding was reported in 584 areas in Regions 1, 2, 3, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Regions 5, 6, 8, 9, 12, CARAGA, BARMM, and Metro Manila.

Rescuers battle floodwaters to reach people left stranded by 'Kristine' 

A total of 84 cities and towns have been placed under a state of calamity due to the extensive damage caused by the storm.

Damage to infrastructure was estimated at P250,543,014.18, while agricultural losses are valued at P127,794,490.59.
